Why do orchestra members wear black?
Most commonly, you will see orchestra members wear black because the orchestra wants the audience to pay attention to the music and not draw attention to themselves. Many classical music lovers believe that nothing should distract from the music, not even the performers themselves. Playing in an orchestra is a group effort.
What is the difference between a philharmonic orchestra and a symphony orchestra?
Many use this term interchangeably, but some distinguish between philharmonic and symphony. Philharmonic emphasizes the organizers and the audience, whereas symphony places it on sound and the actual music-making. Some cities and groups use this term in the same ways.
